mission

At Matterpieces, we’re on a mission to transform the design and architecture industry. We believe in adopting a cyclical approach to space design and recognise the value of repurposing waste. Instead of following the old take-make-discard model, we harvest materials from demolition sites, giving them new purpose and reducing waste.

We’re committed to circular architecture and upcycling, educating on sustainable practices, fostering collaboration, and advocating for the rehabilitation of structures. Our approach promotes reevaluating construction methods and redesigning material lifecycles to drive industry sustainability.

the problem

For decades, the construction industry has prioritized human needs, often neglecting the well-being of the planet and depleting resources unsustainably.

The sector is a major contributor to environmental pollution, responsible for 38% of global CO2 emissions, consuming half of all raw materials, and generating nearly a third of the EU’s waste. As natural resources become scarcer and regulations tighten due to climate change, the industry must shift. Circular construction is still developing, particularly for inert materials like bricks, stones, and cement, which make up over 90% of demolition waste.

Current recycling methods are limited to producing low-value aggregates, hindering circular construction opportunities. Matterpieces aims to transform debris valorization, turning waste into valuable, sustainable materials for architecture and space design.

Matterpieces aims to shape a new era of sustainable architecture by redefining the boundaries of design, construction, and environmental responsibility. We believe in circular architecture into Matterpieces is more than a concept; it’s a catalyst for positive global change.

turn your debris into a masterpiece

transformation

To lead the change in transforming design & architecture into a more circular industry, making it beautiful while reducing waste impact expressions.

circularity

To propose a cyclical approach to space design by acknowledging waste’s value and resourcefulness, avoiding the classical take-make-discard model.

history

To preserve spatial memories. By reusing old materials, we create new narratives about the geology of a place without freezing its history.

consciousness

To inspire sustainable choices. By offering a flexible, high-quality alternative to extractive materials, we encourage consumers to adopt circular solutions and rethink their impact on natural resources.
